What's Happening at the Boys and Girls Club

Well, it looks as though Fall is upon us! There is a slight chill to the air, leaves are changing, children and youth are back in school and fall programs have begun at the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops!! Here are just a few of the wonderful programs we have to offer at the McArthur Island Club and satelite clubs!

Youth: Age 12-18 (no cost) programs:
1. Afterschool (FREE) drop-in program located at McArthur Island is open Monday-Friday from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm.Come join us for activities, dinner and fun times!
2. Nights Alive! Every Friday from 8:00 pm -12:00 am. This is a youth driven social program that provides a safe, drug, alcohol and harrasment free environment for youth age 13-18.
3. Inner Voice Girls Group: every Wednesday from 3:30 pm -5:15. This is a no cost drop in group for female adolescents, providing a safe space to explore a wide range of issues. We have been focussing on creative elements - Inner Voice Girls Group had an art show at the Kamloops Art Gallery in May 2010! It was a huge success with two girls selling their art work!

Children:
1. Children's Recreation and Development programs: afterschool programs based on 5 components: creative, educational, physical, social, and community.
2. School Age Child Care and Kindergarten Care
3. Power Start: partnership program with School District 73 helping children get to school, have a nutritious breakfast and be school ready!
